Abstract:
Tells the story of Eichmann's capture and trial, and discusses his defense that he was "only following orders". He was an extremely efficient and conscientious administrator, who was able to relegate millions to death because he entirely dissociated his work from its consequences and from its moral context. The trial broke the silence about the Holocaust in both Israel and Germany - but in Germany only halfheartedly and temporarily.
