Abstract:
Poses the question when exactly did Hitler become an antisemite. States that nothing in his early biography points to his later talent as a leader. Only in 1919 did certain characteristic features emerge which enabled him to formulate an ideology in a convincing manner. The concept of a "Jewish world conspiracy", which appeared in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", was discussed in antisemitic circles in Munich in 1919. The "Protocols" greatly influenced Hitler's thinking and allowed him to interpret and "understand" political and historical events in his own way.
