Abstract:
Contends that the Jews have been hated throughout the centuries because of their belief in monotheism, their exhortation to a higher morality and conscience than other peoples, and their durability through centuries of oppression. The existence of the Jewish people is an anomaly for some historians (from Augustine to Toynbee). Their belief in redemption irks Christians because they do not accept Jesus as the redeemer. Jews believe they have a mission to reform the world (e.g. Jesus, Marx, Freud). States that antisemites' fear of Jewish power is based in truth: the Jews are in fact powerful morally and intellectually. Zionist ideology would have Israel be like all other peoples, yet Eldad calls on Israel to retain the qualities which have always made the Jews different and special.
