Abstract:
Dressen, director of the Zentrale Stelle der Landesjustizverwaltungen in Ludwigsburg, describes the agency's attempts, in cooperation with the Czech Government Commission for the Prosecution of Nazi Criminals, to bring to justice Germans responsible for war crimes in Slovakia: the officers of Einsatzkommando 14 which, after the suppression of the Slovak insurrection of 1944, had massacred Jews or rounded them up for deportation, as well as those who mistreated and murdered inmates of the Pressburg (i.e. Bratislava) and Sered internment camps. The prosecutions failed for lack of watertight evidence and other technical reasons, as well as inability to locate the accused.
