Abstract:
Public opinion surveys can be useful tools in the study of antisemitism; however, in order to make reliable inferences based on them, one must take into account the technical aspects of the studies. Various factors can influence the results of such a study, among them the wording of questions, the response format and range, the cultural context of the study, assumptions of respondents concerning the ethnic identity and political views of the interviewer, accuracy of the interviewer, method of data collection (personal, by telephone, etc.), and even the order of the questions. Illustrates the impact of these factors on surveys conducted in Poland.
