Abstract:
An essay on the life and death of Miklós Radnóti. Recently Támas Csapody established the fact that the man who killed Radnóti and 21 others during a death march from the Bor camp in 1944 was a Hungarian sergeant, András Tálas. Executed by the communist authorities in 1947 and buried at a cemetery for war criminals, Tálas was rehabilitated as a "freedom fighter" and a hero after the fall of communism in Hungary. Now the decision to rehabilitate Tálas has been revised.
Note:
Includes an English translation of some of his poems (pp. 496-500).
