Abstract:
Compares expositions on and characterizations of modern antisemitism by Jewish researchers after the Holocaust. Analyzes the views of Jules Isaac (emphasizes Christianity's dominant impact); Shmuel Ettinger (emphasizes the continuity of Jew-hatred throughout the ages and the part played by progressive ideologies in shaping modern antisemitism); Salo W. Baron and Theodor W. Adorno's sociological, psychological, and philosophical explications; and Peter Pulzer's emphasis on political and historical manifestations which influenced modern antisemitism. States that these explanations of modern antisemitism reflect the methodological and ideological stances of the writers, but do not contribute a comprehensive presentation of the phenomenon.
