Abstract:
Notes that the role of members of the Revisionist Zionist movement in rescue efforts during the Holocaust and in the establishment of the State of Israel is generally not mentioned in Israeli historiography. During the Holocaust, members of the movement in Istanbul and other places attempted to save European Jews, and ca. 3,500 members joined the British army in order to fight the Nazis. In commemoration of the Holocaust, the left-wing Yishuv leadership and Israeli government chose to ignore these efforts, as well as the role of the Revisionists in the Warsaw ghetto uprising, which was significant.
