Abstract:
Protests against the refusal of present-day German geneticists and other scientists to examine the use of science (e.g. genetics, anthropology, psychiatry) in Nazi programs, such as medical experiments and the racially-based murder of Jews, Gypsies, and the mentally handicapped. Shows that the methods and results of Nazi science were not questioned by colleagues of the scientists, and they retained or quickly regained their academic positions. The scientific method itself, which treats others as objects and excludes values, may lead to the destruction of the object or patient, and should be feared. Nevertheless, science itself should not be rejected, despite its destructive potential.
