Abstract:
Analyzes the revival of traditional antisemitism as a controversial issue in the constitution of a new unified Europe. Mentions the significance of the events in Carpentras and antisemitism in Eastern Europe, probably due to the reappearance of nationalism and religion in the Soviet Union. Although Jews may have ambiguous feelings towards reunited Germany, since Germans consider their new situation as a sort of amnesty for the criminal past, asserts that many Eastern European Jews will seek refuge in this country.
