Abstract:
The article revisits the pottery fragment X28 from the Clermont-Ganneau collection, inscribed in Syriac and misplaced among the Aramaic ostraca found at Elephantine. The text reproduces verses from Psalm 3 according to the Peshitta version. The assumption of a Mesopotamian background for the ostracon, inferred from the labelling of the object having belonged to the same collection as a fragment of a Mandaic magic bowl, is supported by parallels from Takrīt.
