Abstract: The Jewish family on television often displays what are taken to be the confusions of modernity, and there are good reasons for this. Jews have often been seen as harbingers of social change and represented accordingly in the media. They represent something of the fluidity of modern and postmodern life, and this is often reflected in a playful attitude to ritual and practice, and traditional social roles. The main focus of this chapter is on the Pfeffermans in the Amazon series Transparent.
