    Abstract: Expanding cultural diversity in the United States creates social imperative requiring healthcare agencies to attract and retain nurses from diverse groups. The purpose of this research was to understand the lived experience of Orthodox Jewish nursing students. This study relied on phenomenological inquiry to illuminate their experience.Findings illustrate the students’ motivation to become a nurse and faith-based cultural values. Modesty reflected inner differences and appreciation of their devotion to personal/academic growth emerged.Findings can influence program development for minorities; inform curricula design and interventions; developing greater awareness and sensitivity of culturally diverse students to maximize their recruitment and retention.
