Abstract:
Argues against the view that eliminatory antisemitism was rooted in the German mind for hundreds of years prior to the Holocaust. German society, however, did suffer from lack of awareness of human rights and the protection of minorities. The fate of the Jews in the Holocaust was repressed in Germany due partly to indifference, and partly to the fact that resistance was forbidden and became impossible after 1933.
