Abstract: Argues that, although anti-Israel sentiment does sometimes express itself in antisemitic terms, the attitudes of Arabs (in North Africa and the Middle East) are largely shaped by contextual considerations in the region, and change as the context changes. The anti-Israel sentiments are not fueled by primordial hatred or an enduring rejection of Israel’s right to exist. Most Arabs would welcome peaceful relations under appropriate conditions.
