Abstract:
Discusses relations, including love, between men and women in the Jewish resistance in ghettos and in "family camps" in the forests. States that the new, egalitarian relations that had developed between the sexes in the Zionist movement before the war continued to color relations in the ghettos, especially in large cities. There, women could more easily perform illegal tasks than men. In the forests traditional patterns prevailed; the families mostly came from traditional environments and circumstances favored physically fit men. Many women married under their status, for need of protection, and intellectual men were looked down upon. However, marriages entered into, both in the family camps and in the ghettos, have proved to be long-lasting.
