Abstract:
States that the political Right in Germany was always traditionally considered anti-Jewish. Yet, recently there exists a new type of anti-Judaism, which is mainly supported by groups which are only newly considered antisemitic, e.g. Leftists and minorities such as Muslims. Argues that this "new antisemitism" is not new. Anti-Judaism is one of the main features of the worldview of the European Left and of Islam. The anti-Jewish stereotype perceives Judaism as a main component of a socially unjust capitalist system which has a reactionary potential because of Judaism's traditional-historical legal orientation. The "new antisemitism" sees in Israel the main obstacle for peace. As for Islamic antisemitism, it is deeply rooted in its religious sources, from where Islamic movements such as Hamas take their call for the annihilation of Jews.
