Abstract:
Reveals how the trauma of the racial laws in Italy in 1930 affected the Jewish community after World War II demographically, socially, and psychologically. It was difficult to reintegrate into a society that largely dissociated itself from its wartime antisemitism and was insensitive to the situation and needs of the survivors. Traces of racism remained, including the assumption that Jews should assimilate so that they would no longer have a separate identity.
