Abstract:
Describes the ghettoization of the Sosnowiec Jews, including the establishment of the closed ghetto in October 1942. All stages of the Nazi policy concerning the Jews in Sosnowiec were accompanied by looting of Jewish property by military and civil officers, as well as centralized confiscation. The looting was facilitated by the Nazi principle that all Jewish property belonged to the Reich. The main ghetto, in the district of Srodula, was liquidated in August 1943, when the Jews were deported to Auschwitz. States that the camp administration also used property left behind by the Sosnowiec Jews.
