Abstract:
Criticizes Polish history textbooks published in the 1990s. Most of them do not include sufficient information about the presence of Jews in Poland throughout the centuries. There is no information given about the multinational character of Poland before World War II. The exposition of Endecja ideology is found lacking, which makes it difficult to understand later developments. The subject of antisemitism as a social problem is marginalized. The Holocaust is presented as part of Nazi policy towards the Polish population, and the Nazis' different treatment of Poles and Jews is not explained. Discusses some of the textbooks and their contents, and recommends the best of them.
