Abstract: Deals with antisemitic actions instigated by Endecja in the Kielce region in the 1930s. Endecja members propagated the boycott of Jewish trade and explained to rural Poles that Jews are "responsible" for their poverty. This propaganda provoked a growth in incidents such as fighting with Jews in markets, beating them up, destroying their shops, etc. Describes events in Odrzywół in November 1935, when a group of Endecja activists attacked Jews in the market. The Jews complained to the police, and some Endecja members were arrested. The arrest provoked a violent reaction of peasants against the police, demanding the release of the Endecja activists. The police shot into the crowd of demonstrators; 12 peasants were killed and dozens injured. The fury of the peasants was great also because of rumors that the Jews murdered Catholics and raped a bishop. Notes that in 1936 there were 277 antisemitic incidents in the Kielce district.
