Abstract:
"The Diary of Anne Frank" was first published in Poland in a limited edition in 1957. The reviews were generally laudatory and contained only a few antisemitic sentiments. The stage adaptation in the same year had a great impact on Polish society, which saw Frank’s story as a reminder and a warning. The diary and the Holocaust were totally ignored in the late 1960s-early 1980s due to the communist antisemitic campaign. However, the book became widely accessible in the mid-1980s and an exhibition in the 1990s, "Anne Frank’s World", toured a number of Polish cities.
