Abstract: Discusses consecutive steps of the Nazi anti-Jewish policy between 1933-43. Various measures were adopted to separate the strongly assimilated German Jews from German society. The Nuremberg Laws caused the emigration of part of Germany's Jews. Describes difficulties related to the emigration process, which was totally halted in October 1941. Deals with eviction of Jews from their homes, and deportation of German Jews to various places before and after the Wannsee Conference. Relates to the decisions taken at the Wannsee Conference on 20 January 1942. The exact date of the decision to exterminate the Jews is not known; there is much speculation about it in German historiography. The appendices (pp. 252-284) contain a list of the Jews from Wrocław deported to Kovno in November 1941, a list of those deported to the Lublin district in April 1942, and the protocol of the Wannsee Conference.
