Abstract:
Presents the figure of Stanisław Trzeciak, a Polish priest who was well-known in the interwar period for his extremely antisemitic opinions. He published numerous articles and pamphlets, and delivered public lectures, on the "Jewish question". He promoted isolation of the Jews from Polish society through boycotts and the numerus clausus. He believed that the persecuted Jews would emigrate from Poland en masse. In the mid-1930s, Trzeciak participated in the meetings of Weltdienst (Institut zur Erforschung der Judenfrage) in Erfurt. He upheld the authenticity of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and fought against Jewish "shechitah" (ritual slaughter). He praised Hitler for his war against the Jews, but he was opposed to physical violence. During the war, Trzeciak took part in a conspiracy against the Nazis and gave moral support to the nuns who hid Jewish children. He was shot and killed during the Warsaw uprising in 1944.
