Abstract: Analyzes the reasons for the Poles' moral indifference and lack of reflection on the Holocaust. One of them is that postwar official propaganda praised the monoethnic Polish state without any reflection on why it became monoethnic after the war. History textbooks gave information about the extermination of Polish citizens, without mentioning the Jews as the main victims of the Holocaust. There has been an improvement in knowledge about the Jews in the post-communist period, but it is still not sufficient. Because a negative stereotype of the Jew is still present in Poland, especially among non-educated people, it is impossible to make a real moral evaluation of the Holocaust, as well as understand the real role of the Jews in the history of Poland. Mentions that school textbooks still do not show the difference between the fate of Poles and the fate of Jews under the Nazi occupation, but concludes that changing the consciousness through books and other media will surely bring results in the next decade.
