Abstract: Presents a survey of the most important disputes and polemics in medieval Spain (10th-15th centuries) between Christian, Muslim, and Jewish theologians. Discusses both written and oral dialogues, the contents of the discussions, the methods of argumentation, etc., throughout the centuries. Concludes that from the beginning of the 15th century there was no longer a possibility for real religious dialogue in Spain, and that Jewish and Muslim minorities began to be treated as strangers disturbing the national-religious unity of Christian Spain.
Note: A French translation appeared as "Les trois cultures ibériques entre dialogue et polémique" in "Chrétiens, musulmans et juifs dans l'Espagne médiévale" (1994) 227-251.
