Abstract: Discusses Mexican writer Justo Sierra O'Reilly's work "La hija del judío" (1848-49) as a reconstruction of a part of colonial history centered around the persecutions and machinations typical of the Spanish Inquisition. Sierra O'Reilly shows, among other things, that the accusation of Judaizing was enough for a Converso family to be labelled "Jewish" for centuries to come, and to remain in the eye of the Inquisition.
