Abstract:
States that SS men who showed signs of cowardice or of emotional distress were invalided out of their units, in contrast to the popular misconception that those who refused to participate in the killing were executed or were sent to concentration camps. Discusses the question of whether or not their refusal was based on sympathy for the fate of the Jews.
