Abstract:
Argues against the tendency to attribute Italian fascist antisemitism to Mussolini personally and to German influence. Italian fascism was a late arrival compared to other European countries. It was populist and petty bourgeois in character, like fascism elsewhere. Emphasizes Mussolini's assertion that fascism and Judaism are imcompatible, because Judaism cannot accept the hierarchical nature of fascism and its glorification of the state.
