Kurzfassung:
During the 15th century, Archbishop Gennadii of Novgorod accused local heretics of Judaizing. Two priests allegedly converted to Judaism; one of them was tried and convicted in Moscow in 1490, along with 30 other accused heretics. Among the evidence for the Jewish nature of the heresy was their use of a "Psalter" translated by a Jewish convert to Christianity named Feodor. Argues that the so-called Psalter was in fact an adaptation from memory by Feodor, a genuine convert, of Jewish prayers from the festival prayerbook to make them suitable for personal and Christian prayers. Although the Novgorod heretics may have expressed sympathy with Judaism, there is little evidence that they actually adopted Jewish religious practices.
