Abstract:
Describes the progressive anti-Jewish policy of the Nazi regime in regard to the expulsion of Jewish pupils from public schools. After race education was introduced in the schools, Jewish children suffered from harassment by fellow pupils and were sometimes used by teachers for demonstrations of race differences. Bernhard Rust, Minister of Education, proposed a law in April 1934 that Jewish children be sent only to Jewish schools and that the Jewish communities would take responsibility for their education. This proposal became effective before the law was enacted in July 1937. After the first deportations in 1941, education in Jewish schools was forbidden.
