Abstract:
Analyzes the contradictory behavior of the Vatican, and Pope Pius XII, during World War II. The Pope's loyalty to Hitler was motivated by the fact that, aware of Hitler's anticlerical attitude, he wanted to preserve his position during the period of the Third Reich. The Vatican favored expulsion of Jews by peaceful methods, not violating moral laws. The Pope raised his voice against genocide only at the end of the war.
