Abstract:
First published as the introduction to a collection of essays on antisemitism, "A modern antiszemitizmus" (1999). Outlines three main issues in the research on antisemitism: the historical continuity of antisemitism, its common features throughout the ages, dealt with in theology, history, and history of religion; the antisemite, examining the reasons for becoming one, dealt with in psychology, sociology, and history (research of conflicts); and why anti-Jewish prejudices can become part of a political ideology, studied by politology, history of politics, and cognitive sociology.
