Abstract:
The "Geto-Cajtung" was a weekly which appeared in the Łódź ghetto between 7 March-21 September 1941. The names of the editor and the authors of the articles were not mentioned. This publication was initiated by Rumkowski, who used it to convey orders to the ghetto population. Analyzes some of the articles which describe Rumkowski's activities and decisions; they present the image of a positive leader who always takes care of his people. There is no mention of problems in the ghetto - the hard labor, the lack of food, etc. Readers were also not informed about events outside the ghetto. The "Geto-Cajtung" was, in fact, only a propaganda tool. From other sources it is known that the editor of the newspaper was Szmul Rozensztajn, a close collaborator of Rumkowski.
