Kurzfassung:
It was not antisemitism that first attracted most Germans to the Nazis in 1933; most were only "moderate" antisemites. However, with the radicalization of Nazi anti-Jewish policies, a growing number of Germans broke up with Jewish business partners and friends of many years. While in 1933 some expressed sympathy with the Jews, later on many Germans took part in tormenting, robbing, and humiliating Jews. All the Germans knew about the concentration camps, but many did not want to believe in the genocide. Dwells, also, on mixed marriages in Germany, noting that their endurance was a symbol of German refusal to bow to Nazi racial laws.
