Kurzfassung:
According to documents from archives of the Catholic Church regarding the purity of blood proceedings of Juan Francisco Palavesín y Rojas (in 1617), a descendant of Fernando de Rojas, from proceedings of the Inquisition, and from the Archivo Histórico Nacional, asserts that the Spanish writer Fernando de Rojas (Puebla de Montalván, 1465 - Talavera de la Reina, 1541), author of the book known as "La Celestina" ("Tragicomedia de Calisto y Melibea"), came from a Converso family from Toledo who escaped to Puebla de Montalván because of persecution of the Inquisition. His father, Hernando de Rojas, and other relatives, suffered varying sentences for Judaizing. Also, several members of his wife Leonor Álvarez's family, Conversos as well, were persecuted by the Inquisition. Concludes that his origin strongly influenced his literary work.
