Abstract:
Narrates the life of a Russian Jewish publisher and public activist, a fighter against antisemitism, A.I. Braudo (1864-1924). The best way to fight antisemitism, he felt, was to publish both in Russia and abroad books, counter-propaganda, and information on the government's official involvement in antisemitic activities. In the 1900s he was a member of the Jewish clandestine Press Bureau (Byuro Pechati) which gathered information about the antisemitic movements, provided the mass media abroad with this information, and published the obtained materials in Russia. He participated in the management of the publishing houses Razum and Mir, and also in the publication of some collections directed against antisemitism.
