Abstract:
For many years it was thought that the German Finance Ministry aand its local branches had played no part in Nazi crimes. Officials claimed that all records had been lost. However, the author found and published in 1998 that the archives of the Ministry in Nürnberg contain hundreds of index cards detailing the property of deported Jews, which was confiscated by the Finance Ministry and sold to institutions or auctioned to individuals.
