Abstract:
Examines Mann's literary works and his personality, which reveal a complex attitude toward Jews. Literary antisemitism was common in his novels and short stories (e.g. in "Betrachtungen", "Wälsungenblut", "Doktor Faustus") but he also denounced antisemitism and joined forces with Jewish organizations, when he was in exile in the United States, to fight against Nazism.
