Abstract:
Describes the second wave of deportations from Slovakia in 1944-45. The Germans occupied Slovakia In the summer of 1944. At that time there were ca. 25,000 Jews in Slovakia. Many who were caught were interned in the Sered labor camp, which soon became a concentration camp. The deportation of eastern Slovakia’s Jews to Auschwitz began on 30 September 1944 and ended on 20 November. In central Slovakia, Jews were victims of mass murder actions in several locations; a total of 176 mass graves have been found.
