Abstract:
Analyzes the phenomenon of Conversos in medieval Spanish history, from forced conversion of the Jews under the Visigoth Kings, under the Almohads, during the wave of pogroms in 1391, and up to the expulsion of 1492. States that many Conversos succeeded, apparently, to integrate socially and even to enter the aristocracy, until the statute of "limpieza de sangre" (1449, Toledo) denied them their "rights". Refers, also, to the long series of anti-Jewish disputations (such as that of Tortosa, 1413-14) which involved many Conversos, such as Petrus Alfonsi and Jéronimo de Santa Fé.
