Abstract:
Analyzes the works of Otto Weininger against the background of fin-de-siècle Vienna, presenting Weininger as a neo-romantic representative of the rejection of modernity and technology. Weininger viewed the Jew as a symbol of this modernity, hence his self-hatred. Compares Weininger to Wagner, and underlines similarities between the antisemitism and anti-feminism of Weininger, Schopenhauer, and D.H. Lawrence.
