Abstract:
Analyzes a series of Hebrew texts containing Jewish counter-arguments for use in Christian-Jewish medieval disputations (e.g. Barcelona, 1263; Majorca, 1276; and Tortosa, 1413-14). In presenting these arguments - exegetical, historical, and philosophical - makes reference to Christian accusations against Judaism. States that the disputation of Majorca had a singular character due to the fact that Christianity was represented by a secular merchant, Inghetto Contardo, instead of a priest.
