Abstract:
Sees a similarity between the fate of the Jews during the Holocaust and that of the Chandalas (the untouchables) of the old Hindu code of law, known as the "Laws of Manu". The Chandalas were seen as not even worthy of being slaves, and deserving only of a slow death. Considers whether this Hindu conception might have influenced Nazi ideology and policy. Notes that Nietzsche, in his book "Die Götzendämmerung" (1889), seems to endorse the Laws of Manu as an expression of pure Aryanism, and to condemn Christian ethics deriving from Judaism as a victory of the Chandalas.
