Abstract:
Discusses Nazi war crimes trials in Germany. Traces the Nuremberg trial of physicians in 1946 in which 20 Nazi physicians were accused, inter alia, of the murder of incurable patients and of conducting lethal medical experiments. Seven physicians were sentenced to death, nine were imprisoned, and seven were acquitted. Reports on 12,890 Germans who were convicted in the Soviet occupation zone in 1946, and on 40,000 convicted in the DDR in 1955. Mentions criminal proceedings in 1951 in Hamburg for Nazi crimes committed in the Riga ghetto, as well as Eichmann's trial and death sentence in 1961 in Jerusalem.
