Kurzfassung:
Contends that Wagner was not just a passive contributor to Nazi ideology, but an active one, a link in a chain of influential antisemites. Notes that his wife, Cosima, daughter of the antisemitic composer Franz Lizst, was probably more antisemitic than Wagner himself. Wagner's daughter, Eva, married the British writer and race theorist Houston Stewart Chamberlain, whom Hitler called the "prophet of the Third Reich". Wagner's daughter-in-law, Winifred, helped Hitler throughout his career. Wagner's essay "Der Judenthum in der Musik", first published in 1850, was mainly a criticism of the famous Jewish composers Felix Mendelssohn and Giacomo Meyerbeer, and was at least partially due to jealousy. Notes that this criticism actually affected the popularity of Meyerbeer's works. Wagner also criticized Heine, although some of his own works were based on works by Heine. Wagner insisted that Jews were responsible for every negative aspect of the music world.
