Abstract:
Discusses works about the Holocaust composed during the Holocaust and afterwards by Jewish and non-Jewish Polish writers. States that, in general, Jewish writers regarded their writing as a way to extend their existence and wrote mainly about the powerlessness and the moral decay experienced by the victims. Non-Jewish writers focused on inability to comprehend the Holocaust reality, on lack of contact with the victims, and on guilt feelings experienced by witnesses. Concludes that Polish literature on the Holocaust views the Jews as part of Polish society.
