Abstract:
Describes the efforts of international and of British, mainly Jewish, organizations to find employment for Jewish refugees in Britain or asylum elsewhere. The response from other countries was poor. Norman Bentwich, the most active lobbyist for Jewish refugees around the world, inquired at the Colonial Office about the possibility of settling Jews in its Aden Protectorate, mainly refugees who had received agricultural training in special camps in Britain. But officials on the spot declared this impracticable because of Arab hostility to Jews caused by the conflict over Palestine.
