Abstract:
Psalm 48 describes a city conceived, drawing its walls on a real and perceived space; but its language reminds us more of a project than a memory evoked to embellish ruins. Indeed, if one excludes a procession or even a simple walk around the ramparts and in the streets of the city, one can see in this psalm a form of 'contemplation' of the solidity of its buildings as proof of divine protection. We think that it remains legitimate to ask whether this description is that of the city that is under the eyes of the poet, or that arises in his nostalgia, or whether it would not be rather a city to be rebuilt, whose plan is drawn.
