Abstract:
Discusses the riots of October-November 2005 in France, noting that the rioters, mostly Muslims, were motivated by socioeconomic factors, criminal tendencies, and anti-French and anti-white feelings. Although Jews were not attacked specifically, claims that the riots were the culmination of increasing anti-Jewish attacks from 2000, a classic case of "attack the Jews first, then the others". Notes that, until 2003, the French government had denied the antisemitic nature of attacks against Jews. Since 2000, French Jews have been keeping a low profile, with many hiding their Jewish identity. There has been some Jewish-Muslim dialogue, but the Jews have shown a much greater interest in this than the Muslims. Discusses, also, anti-Israel tendencies in the French government and the dangers posed by Muslim racist propaganda.
